Land Rover workforce back early from Christmas
After a boom year for sales at Land Rover, workers have been brought back from their Christmas New Year break early to cope with demand. 2011 has been a remarkable year for Land Rover. Perhaps the greatest achievement is to take the underpinnings of the Freelander 2 – a good car, but not the top of the list for fashion-conscious buyers – and turn it in to the style icon that is the Range Rover Evoque.
John Buckingham's Lagonda project was one of several Aston Martin projects featured this year. This is a front-engined limousine in the style of the 1976 Bill Towns Lagonda with a compact cabin, shallow DLO and a very long, high tail combined with a much more 'delicate' aesthetic than existing full-size limousines. Unusual features include a shark nosed form with concave sculpted fenders inspired by the DB3R and a full-width light bar visor contained in an inverted Aston grille.
The 2012 California gets more power and less weight
The Ferrari California has been given a bit of a facelift for 2012, with lower weight and more power. Debuts at Geneva 2012. Update: We’d expected to see the California go up in price by around £10k, but Ferrari tell us that the new price – £152,086, up from £146,960 – is not related to the California updates but just an annual increase of 3.4 per cent levied from January.
